We all know how difficult it can be to get back out into the dating world after a breakup. Pajamas, tea and a hard drive full of series sound so much more appealing than actually having to go out and meet people. But the truth is if you want to get off the singles circuit, you have to actually have the courage and make the effort to start going out again.
If the thought of that completely freaks you out, then you’ll find these five tips helpful. Although they’re simple, they can have a profound impact on your life.
5 Tips for being more positive when you get up and try again
1 Practise gratitude daily
One of the quickest ways to shift your focus away from negativity, judgment and disappointment is to list the things you’re grateful for in life.
2 Eliminate negative thoughts
Straight after a breakup, you might find it be hard to rid your mind of negativity – focusing on your failures, complaining about work or criticising yourself or your body. Whenever you recognise a negative thought, take a moment to counter it with two positive ones.
3 Do something kind
Instead of letting your sadness absorb you, strive to do one nice thing for someone else each day. Call a family member or friend in need, compliment a colleague or buy a newspaper from a street vendor and tell them to keep the change.
4 Increase your expectations
There is a lot of power in positivity, and your expectations can become reality. When you meet new people expect to be successful and to be liked. Expect to achieve great things and watch as you create a wonderful life.
5 Love life and let it love you back
If you change the way you think about yourself, you will change your life – almost immediately.
