Roller Derby

Initially an all-American sport made famous by the 2009 flick, Whip It starring Ellen Page, the Cape Town Rollergirls have brought this apparently, sexy high contact sport to South Africa.

They are an all-women, skater-owned and run roller derby league established in 2012 and they also run a weekly Tuesday slot for newcomers at their base in Milnerton. If you love skating or just want to learn something new while getting super snatched at the same time, look them up.

Laughter Yoga

Awkward much? Yes. Very. So apparently in 1995 Dr Madan Kataria, a medical doctor from Mumbai, India founded laughter yoga which is said to not only benefit you physically but spiritually as well. If you’re a free spirit and being carefree and silly is something you would enjoy, then this is definitely for you.

There are many yoga studios and private yoga and meditation specialists around the Mother City who host the classes. However, Yoga Leader Michael Dale hosts a session with a view every Wednesday in Camps Bay. Google it.
