Round two of the much-anticipated Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week kicked off on Friday 7 April at Salt River Studios in Cape Town, and it was well worth the wait! After having missed out on the opportunity to unveil their Autumn/Winter 2017 collections last month due to adverse weather conditions, designers such as Stefania Morland, Laduma Ngxokolo and Craig Port were finally able to return to the runway.
With a venue packed full of the who’s who of SA fashion, the event was an undeniable success, featuring unforgettable showcases from reputable local and pan-African designers, along with a sprinkling of new brands, including the ethical and sustainable Fashion Revolution who made a striking debut with eye-catching white fabric tees. Thanks to colourful innovations like the merging of opulent fabrics with popular African prints, the show was an extravaganza of creativity and originality, giving us more than enough exciting new styles and trends to look forward to for the rest of the year.
