Achieving harmony: Rechelle Kloeck talks personal health journey, holistic well-being and the birth of Motherkind Co

Rechelle Kloeck is a force to be reckoned with – a mom, wife and entrepreneur, with an unquenchable passion for health, fitness and wellness. Driven by her desire to help others navigate their health journeys, and drawing from her personal experience, she founded the premium collagen brand Motherkind Co. In this exclusive with GLAMOUR, Rechelle unveils her inspiring wellness journey, while offering a sneak peek into the wellness trends set to define 2025.

How do you define wellness, and has that evolved?

Wellness is about achieving harmony across all areas of life – your physical, mental, and emotional health – by nurturing the body from within. Initially, my understanding was centred on fitness and appearance. Overtime it’s transformed into a more holistic concept of mental well-being, self-compassion and nourishment. Genuine wellness is founded on consistency, self-awareness, and finding what works for you.

What role does nutrition play in wellness, and what’s your advice?

Nutrition is pivotal, because it lays the groundwork for feeling good both internally and externally. It’s not just about choosing the right foods, but about selecting those that support your individual health goals. My advice is to listen to your body. Opt for whole, nutrient-rich foods that align with how you wish to feel. Consider supplements that support your goals, if you feel your body needs further assistance. But gut health forms the cornerstone of my wellness journey; a healthy gut positively influences everything from energy levels to mental clarity, ensuring everything else aligns smoothly.

What wellness practices do you find beneficial to maintaining health?

Small, manageable habits. Staying active is a top priority, every day includes some form of movement: a workout with my trainer, a walk, horse riding, or simply playing with my children. Consistency is key; I never skip my Motherkind Body Gold Collagen and Grow & Glow capsules – they’re vital. I focus on a balanced lifestyle: eating nutritious foods, staying well-hydrated, dedicating time to activities that bring joy and relaxation. A bath is my sanctuary– a moment to escape, reflect, recharge mentally. You must carve out personal time, no matter how hectic life becomes.

What are the wellness trends for2025, and how will you integrate them into Motherkind’s offerings?

There’s a global shift towards prioritising health and wellness. This calls for high-quality products that combine luxury with tangible results. Consumers are increasingly seeking holistic wellness solutions that seamlessly integrate into their lifestyles. At Motherkind, we are dedicated to innovation, offering a diverse range of premium nutricosmetics. One trend poised for growth is the emphasis on self-care. This includes wellness retreats, particularly in South Africa, which offer an array of packages designed for holistic rejuvenation. We at Motherkind strive to anticipate our customers’ evolving needs.

How does your role as a mom influence your approach to wellness?

It’s entirely transformed it. It’s no longer just about me – it’s about setting a positive example for my children, and ensuring I have the energy and mental clarity to be present for them. My approach to personal wellness will probably influence their lifelong habits. My advice to other parents: embrace balance over perfection. Let’s be honest, parenting is unpredictable! But: you must prioritise your own health. Our children observe everything we do. Have an off day, or skip a workout? They’ll notice. But if they see us at Pilates, preparing healthy meals, taking time for self-care, they learn that these habits are important. We must lead by example. Engage consistently in healthy habits – applying sunblock, proper dental hygiene – and our children will follow, building their own wellness routines.

What challenges have you faced? How have they shaped your brand?

The challenges in my personal health journey...they’re actually why Motherkind exists. Post-pregnancy I faced significant hair loss, and was eager to find a solution. At the time, collagen wasn’t widely recognised here, but I discovered its benefits through international research. I was determined to source the finest hydrolysed collagen peptides globally, backed by scientific proof of their effectiveness. This experience marked the inception of Motherkind.

What global trends will influence individual wellness journeys?

Personalisation is at the forefront. Tailored nutrition, with people opting for supplements that cater to their specific needs: boosting energy, enhancing skin and nail health, improving gut functionality. Convenience has evolved from a trend to a necessity; we seek straightforward, on-the-go solutions that fi t seamlessly into our busy lives. And there’s heightened emphasis on awareness and support of mental health, crucial to well-being.

What goals have you set for yourself and Motherkind this year?

I’ve set personal goals to continue prioritising my health through mindful nutrition, consistent fitness and self-care routines, to lead by example. For Motherkind, offering even more personalised, high-quality products that genuinely enhance the lives of our customers. We aim to grow our community, and empower our clients to make informed decisions . These align with my holistic health vision: nourishing the body from within to achieve sustainable and balanced well-being. At Motherkind, our goal is to provide solutions tailored for everyone.

How does mental wellness fit into your routine and brand philosophy?

I firmly believe a positive mindset brings about positive outcomes. I nurture this mindset through daily gratitude practices and by surrounding myself with uplifting people. Embracing kindness and compassion is central to my approach: while life can be challenging, it’s vital to allow ourselves to feel and navigate those emotions. Acknowledging difficulties is crucial, yet each day also presents an opportunity to refocus, recharge, and face life’s challenges with grace.

What tips do you have to stay motivated to reach your goals?

For me, motivation during tough times hinges on maintaining a clear vision of my goals, and taking manageable steps forward. I always remind myself of the reasons behind my goals, and celebrate the small victories along the journey. Consistency is key, even when life gets tough – whether it’s fitting in a quick workout, or preparing a healthy meal. My advice is to break your goals into smaller, manageable actions. And don’t wait for the perfect moment; progress is fuelled by consistent effort.

Are there any books that have inspired your wellness journey, and that you would recommend to others?

Yes, a couple:

  1. The Wellness Warrior, by Jodie Abel – This book offers a South African take on the wellness journey, focusing on health, fitness and self-care. It combines practical advice with personal stories to inspire individuals.
  2. The Art of Simple, by Megan de Beer – this is a great resource for living a more mindful and intentional life, with a focus on simplicity, wellness, and living with purpose.
