The Free State Fashion Week kicks off in Bloemfontein on Thursday and the beautiful Lerato Kganyago will host the three-day extravaganza.
This is the reason that you'll be expected to bring your A game and slay at the 4th installment of the prestigious fashion and lifestyle showcase held at the the Sun Windmill, in Bloemfontein.
With this year’s theme - Our Roots Conquer, designers are challenged to go beyond what is usual, regular or customary as they are marked to conquer through their African heritage.
The event will offer a fashion experience to remember, as it will display diverse lifestyle items and accessories by designers within the province. It offers a great ambiance of celebrating the essence of arts and culture by featuring top talent and entertainers from the Free State and across South Africa.
Candy Smith, a fashion designer in her own right is the brains behind the fashion week. She is also behind multiple other platforms which are aimed at empowering young creatives in design arts.
Smith founded the Free State Fashion Week in 2016, and is the Managing Director of the Free State Fashion Hub, a fashion design school, and chairperson of the Free State Fashion Council, a non-profit agency aimed at giving back to the community by providing mentorship programmes for the youth.
Spokesperson for the Free State Fashion Week, Shorn Khumalo told GLAMOUR that they are at least 50 designers who would be showcasing their collections at the 3-day event.

Free State Fashion Week Exhibition is a partnership with Mimosa Mall affording Free State Designers and Craftsmen a platform to display their arts and crafts, clothing designs and jewelry throughout the mall for a full week.
The Face of Free State Fashion Week is a mentorship program seeking for young women to be our ambassador and community agent for our CSI projects which include but not limited to education drive, sanitary pad drive and other women empowerment initiatives.
Free State Fashion Week Master Classes; The Business of Fashion are created to elevate and have open honest discussions from designers and industry experts on how we can elevate the Free State Fashion Industry, building one’s brand, equipping designers with business acumen and address some key issue and find solutions.
