Laduma Ngxokolo’s Maxhosa is now officially one of the best luxury brands to come out of South Africa.
Laduma Ngxokolo was honoured alongside Cameroonian haute couture fashion designer Imane Ayissi at Luxury Connect Africa’s African Luxury Heritage Awards.
Luxury Connect Africa is a luxury business resource and investment platform focused on reviving and accelerating luxury in, from and to Africa.
Imane Ayissi was awarded African Luxury Heritage Brand of the Year 2020 and Ngxokolo won the African Luxury Heritage Brand of the Year award for 2021.
In his absence, the South African Ambassador to France accepted the award on Ngxokolo’s behalf. Ngxokolo shared the news on his Instagram saying, “Couldn’t make it to the ceremony in France, but definitely honoured by the recognition for the effort our tireless puts in to constantly raise the standard of the Mother Continent’s Luxury Fashion. Danko!”, in the caption.
Launched in 2012, Ngxokolo’s luxury knitwear brand Maxhosa Africa continues to excel and showcase the beauty, culture, language and aspiration of the Xhosa people.
Ngxokolo revealed his latest capsule SS2022 collection titled “Lindelwa: We are the ones they have been waiting for” at Rakuten Fashion Week in Tokyo. The designer collaborated with Awa'Tori on a collection in South Africa and in Tokyo which features statement pieces such as beaded headpieces and necklaces, cardigans, kimonos, maxi skirts, hats and more.
In 2020, Ngxokolo showcased the Maxhosa SS21 collection in New York Fashion Week.
