We don’t know about you but celebrity Halloween costume pics on Instagram is something we look forward to every year. And it seems after a year off, the outfits were even crazier and even more creative than usual - much to our amusement.
The sheer level of thought and attention to detail that goes into these costumes to create almost exact replicas of the movie character-, celebrity-era- or pop culture- reference is simply impressive (we’re also not really sure if these costumes are even worn anywhere or if they’re merely just staged for the ‘gram, but that’s besides the point).
While some aren’t afraid to let their scary side shine, others go for the sweet, pretty or hot girl look. Then you get straight up iconic, creative and downright hilarious (A costume of Nicki Minaj’s cousin’s friend comes to mind).
Here are some of our favourite celebrity Halloween costumes this year:
Rihanna as Gunna
Just as Riri is the Queen of the Met Gala, she also won Halloween this year. The singer dressed up as rapper Gunna wearing one of his outfits that he was clowned for on social media. Gunna has now changed his Instagram profile picture to one of Rihanna dressed up as him. You don’t get more iconic than that.
Karruche
Karrueche looked like a fine bottle of tequila as she dressed up as a Case Azul bottle. The premium tequila brand is famed for their beautiful clay bottles which are hand-painted by native artisans from Mexico.
Pearl Thusi as Akasha Queen of the Damned
Pearl Thusi channelled Aaliyah’s character in the film The Vampire Chronicles. The media mogul was the spitting image of Akasha Queen of the Damned.
Moozlie as a witch
Moozlie went the classic route with her costume and was 100% that witch.
Mihlali as a 1920’s showgirl
The makeup mogul was as pretty as ever in a costume from the roaring 20’s.
Megan Thee Stallion as Pinhead
Megan dressed up in multiple costumes this year. Her Pinhead outfit was particulatly impressive, as was her Cruella De Ville ensemble.
Ciara as TLC
Ciara channelled T-Boz, Left-Eye and Chilli all at once. Impressive.
Cardi B as Morticia Adams
Another classic Halloween costume. But Cardi gave it just the right amount of swag.
Lebron James as Freddy Krueger
We don’t often see men doing Halloween costumes as creative as this.
Lizzo as Kim Kardashian at the Met Gala
The singer was unrecognisable as she covered up from head to toe.
Lil Nas X as Voldemort
Lil Nas once again stirred up social media as the highly-despised villain from Harry Potter.
Janelle Monae as The Grinch
Somehow she still looked as pretty as always.
Hailey Bieber as Britney Spears
Britney in her prime. So many iconic songs. So many iconic fits. And Hailey killed them all.

We could not love this any more.
