Thigh-high boots. They don’t seem like a tempting prospect at first glance, but their popularity is on the rise and we can’t avoid them any longer.
We rather like the idea of dressing Felicity Shagwell, but wear with caution – think ’60s chic, rather than Pretty Woman. High necklines are essential and chunky polo necks preferable. Wear with A-line minis and steer away from any tight short skirts or dresses, or else risk hazardous working girl territory. Shift and jumper dresses are good options, as are flirty skater skirts.
We’re also fans of Bella Hadid’s interpretation of the trend, wearing her thigh-highs under a longer length dress – suggestive and sexy, but still utterly chic. You don’t need to bare your thighs if you don’t want to. Just make sure your skirt is longer than the top of your boots.
Whether in velvet or PVC, kinky boots are back and they’re worth braving.
Want to try the over-the-knee trend but worried it won’t suit your body shape? Here’s how to choose the right thigh-high boot for your figure.
