Budget feeling a little tight? Hair looking a little lacklustre? Skin need some pampering? Here, a moisturising mask you can whip up in your kitchen.
You’ll need:
Half an avocado
2 Tablespoons of coconut oil
How to use it as a hair mask:
Mix together to create a smooth paste. While the mixture settles, give your hair a deep cleanse with a clarifying shampoo. Apply about a R5 coin-sized amount throughout your roots and ends and leave on for three minutes. Rinse and repeat. Avoid conditioner, as the coconut oil will be moisturising enough.
Towel dry you hair well then work the mask into your midlengths and ends, working your way up your scalp. Once all your hair is covered, wrap your head with cling film and cover with a towel. Leave on for 3o minutes. Rinse well. Style hair as usual.
Perfect for highlighted, overprocessed, coloured or damaged hair.
Now try it as a skin mask:
Safe enough for all skin types – avo and coconut oil are not only moisturising they are also exfoliating, revealing a radiance.
Start with a good cleanse using your regular cleanser. Pat dry. Apply the paste evenly, avoiding the eye area. Leave on for 10 minutes. Rinse off with lukewarm water. Follow with your usual moisturiser and sunscreen.
