On 23 November, we held our annual GLAMOUR Women of the Year event in association with Rose’s and Hyde Park Corner, and what a phenomenal evening it was!
An unforgettable venue
It all starts with the venue of course, and we couldn’t have chosen a better location for our event than Hyde Park Corner– a fabulous, high-end, international shopping destination situated in Rosebank, Johannesburg. Epitomising the class and sophistication of our Women of the Year winners themselves, and loved by local stars like Taryn Louch, this gorgeous space was the perfect setting for such a spectacular occasion. And if you want to see for yourself just how fabulous the space is, be sure to pay a visit to the centre this weekend, and take a look at our winner displays at the same time!
Three cheers to fabulousness
Every party needs a selection of delicious drinks, which is why our guests were treated to a welcome cocktail on arrival, courtesy of Rose’s and Pravda. And to follow? A choice of top quality wines from Boulevard Rosé– the perfect way to toast the evening.
A GLAMOURous guest list
Nothing says GLAMOUR quite like a bevy of celebs — and our awards evening had plenty of those! From our oh-so-stylish MC Jessica Nkosi, to A-listers like Terry Pheto, ChianoSky and Leigh-Anne Williams, our guest list shined brighter than the stars.
Foodie heaven
No celebration is complete without a delectable dinner to enjoy, which is exactly what the Social Kitchen & Bar provided in the form of a glorious five-course meal. Guests were treated to delicacies like chartreuse tiger prawns, duck and wild mushroom pithiviers, herbal lamb loins, and a mouthwatering dessert of dark chocolate moelleux and violet ice cream! A feast for the eyes and the palate as well.
Inspiring women
Of course, the evening was about more than food, drink and style – it was about honouring our nine Women of the Year as well, and presenting each of them with their prestigious trophies. Each of our four winners who was able to attend the event – Mary Sibande, Leandie du Randt Bosch, Ryki and Aisha Pandor– gave a heartfelt acceptance speech, while those who were unable to join in the festivities – Sbahle Mpisane, Marilyn Hoole, Nadia Jaftha, Carol Tshabalala and Sizophila Dlezi– all shared videos or messages via their representatives.
Selfies, shoes and more
After the formalities had been taken care of, the rest of the night was set aside for socialising and snapping pictures at our GlamCam installation while DJ Kimmy K kept the music flowing. Held in conjunction with Europa Art, guests were able to browse the label’s latest collection, then post a picture on social media guessing the size of their favourite shoes to stand a chance of winning their own pair. Congratulations to Portia Naidoo, the lucky winner – that’s #shoegoals right there!
Gifts galore!
To add to the evening’s festivities, each of our 2017 winners also took home truly GLAMOURous goodies from GlamPalm, L’Oréal Paris Makeup, Carlton Hair, Vogue Eyewear from Luxottica, Typo, Camelot Spa, YSL Beauty, Cadbury Dairy Milk, Rose’s and Europa Art too. And of course we couldn’t forget our guests, each of whom received gift bags containing treats from L’Oréal Paris Makeup, Carlton Hair, Vogue Eyewear by Luxottica, Typo and Cadbury Dairy Milk.
