Julie and Filippo literally became part of Italian history when they said their ‘I dos’ in this historic (and may we just say, breathtakingly beautiful) venue.
Julie is originally from Germany with an Indian background and her husband is an Austrian-Italian and so this international couple naturally met in the cultural melting pot that is London. “We met in London, where we both moved for work,” says Julie. Their diverse backgrounds also meant that the wedding party would be an international affair. “We both have lived in several countries before moving to London, so we had guests from all over the world (we had about 15 countries present and 80 guests),” explains Julie.
The rich colour palette was inspired by the hues of a late European summer (think reds, burnt orange and sunny yellow). “The theme was ‘An Indian Summer in Italy’ – a mix of Indian decorations and Italian food and wine. A perfect reflection of us,” says Julie.
When it came to the actual ceremony and festivities that followed Julie decided to go traditional. “I had three outfits: first a white Saree which I wore in the church ceremony. This is traditional in my culture as I’m a Catholic Indian (syro-malabar catholic to be specific). In fact, we had to fly in our priest in from India,” explains Julie. “For the reception I wore a Pronovias wedding dress and then a Bollywood dance outfit for the ‘surprise’ dance I performed,” says Julie. The groom and grooms men were wearing Italian tailored suits and Hermes Elephant ties. How elegant!
One of the highlights of the big-day was certainly the food. “We had an aperitif on the golf course while we watched the sunset. This included canapes like freshly made burrata, oysters, seafood, fresh meat cuts and cheeses, which was then followed by a five-course dinner on the pool terrace,” explains Julie. But it didn’t stop there! “After dinner we headed to a huge desert table next to the pool where the chef prepared our wedding cake fresh in front of everyone. After we cut the cake, the dancing kicked off with a champagne shower.”
