They often say that love finds you when you’re not looking! “Darryn and I met at a mutual friend’s 30th birthday on a stormy Cape Town night about two years ago. I must admit I did notice him, so I was rather chuffed when he came up to me and said “I don’t believe we have met” and the rest as they say is history,” says Staci.
“What was amazing about planning our wedding is we literally both planned every aspect of our big day together so the whole process was really a stress-free and fun experience for both of us. Darryn and I are both Jewish so it was important for us to have a traditional Jewish wedding so when it came to picking the venue Suikerbossie was on the top of our list,” explains Staci. Suikerbossie was perfect for the happy couple not only because it is a beautiful venue but it is also Kosher. “Dave at Suikerbossie was amazing and in many ways adopted the role of wedding planner. He suggested who we should use for flowers, the DJ and decor,” reveals Staci. “Our colour palette was cream and gold – gold is my favourite colour! We had candles and lots of fairy lights so it really was so pretty and romantic.” Perfect for a summer wedding!
“When it came to my dress my first choice was to buy something as apposed to having it made, so I went to Eve’s Bridal Boutique and tried on a few different options – you try on samples and then the boutique will order you a brand new dress. I fell in love with the very first dress I tried on. It was by Maggie Sottero, I loved the shape and all the lace and the sparkle. It took four months for my actual dress to arrive from overseas but was worth the wait,” says Staci.
“Over all our wedding was about family, friends and celebrating the start of our lives together. My advice to brides would be don’t stress the small stuff because at the end of the day it really is not important. Focus on what is important – you and your husband-to-be”.
