Candice met Warrick on her very first day of high school (he was in Grade 11). “I remember my now husband and his friends standing by the windows just outside the quad watching the new Grade 8’s on their first day of school. A little while later in the day, he approached me to find out who I was,” says Candice. The rest they say is history. “We soon became friends and our relationship grew from there.”
When it came to planning their big-day the couple tackled the bigger tasks head-on. “We started with the ‘big’ things like the venue and catering and worked down a list from there,” explains Candice. “My mother was my right hand women – I couldn’t have done the planning without her and Warrick’s input.”
They decided they really wanted a laid-back and ‘rustic’ forest wedding. “We didn’t want anything too formal, or stuffy; we wanted people to feel comfortable. But, we still wanted a ‘wow factor’, you know? That’s why we paid close attention to every little detail. We wanted the decor and the festivities to reflect ‘us’ – full of colour and love,” explains Candice.
When it came to her dress, Candice wanted something with a vintage feel. “I wanted something that reflected my carefree personality but also something that would show my figure off on the big-day (because really that’s what every women wants on their special day),” says Candice. And of course after searching high-and-low she found ‘The One’. “My dress had a vintage feel with pearls all over, a sweatheart neckline with scalloping and this amazing fish tail mermaid train with lace up the back.”
