It really was ‘love at first sight’ for Kayleigh when she first met her now husband, Brendon. “I remember sitting in our Grade 8 quad (yes, we are high school sweethearts), thinking I wonder who this blue eyed boy is,” says Kayleigh. A few years later they became best friends and shared an incredible friendship which blossomed into an even more incredible relationship.
When planning their wedding Kayleigh and Brendon had one simple rule: to stay true to who they are as individuals and as a couple. “Brendon really surprised me by wanting to be as involved in the planning process as possible and we had so much fun figuring it all out!,” explains Kayleigh.
The couple decided to keep their wedding colour palette light and pretty (perfect for a spring wedding). “We used a mixture ‘ice-cream’ pastels and raw neutrals to create a contemporary yet rustic feel for our big-day,” says Kayleigh. And as for her dress? “My wedding dress is the complete opposite of what I pictured myself wearing! All I knew was that I definitely wanted to purchase my dress from Love Lace Wedding Collection after seeing their displays at a wedding expo,” explains Kayleigh. “Thinking back on it now I remember being told how important it is to try all different styles on, even if they far from what you imagined, it could turn out to be so worth it!”
“If I had to take one moment out of a day filled with so many special ones, I would have to say it would be this one: walking down the aisle, locking eyes with my future husband, my best friend and my happily-ever-after for the first time. Ladies, nothing I say can prepare you for that moment,” says Kayleigh. “When I finally got to hold my wife’s hand at the altar and look into her eyes. I didn’t see or hear anything else around us, it was just her and me,” adds Brendon.
After their wedding the couple jetted off to Mauritius. “We planned our honeymoon like we planned everything else – together! It was such an incredible time and swimming in a bay with a pod of wild dolphins really just topped it all off,” says Kayleigh.
