Sunday can often be a very gloomy day: the thought of a full week of work ahead after a crazy weekend isn’t exactly pleasurable.
Girls, it’s known as ‘the day of rest’ for a reason! Cancel dinner with your bestie, tell your man to go watch the game at a bar; ask your mother to come over during the week instead, because it’s time to RESET. Taking off a few hours to prep for the coming week will help make the transition smooth and stress-free.
Do these 5 things every Sunday night, and we guarantee you’ll feel fresh and ready on Monday morning.
1 Do the laundry
There’s nothing worse than waking up (late) on Monday and freaking out because you have nothing to wear. Making sure that your threads are washed and dried on Sunday will give you more outfits to choose from the next morning. Get into a routine of doing your washing once a week. We know it’s hard, but it’ll insure that your best clothes are clean and available to wear (instead of scrunched up in a pile of dirty clothes). Tip: Leave your washing basket at your front door, it’ll motivate you to get it done sooner rather than later.
2 Pick outfits for the week
You’ll ALWAYS look better in an outfit that has been thought out than in one that’s been thrown together while scurrying to make your 8am meeting. Take some time on Sunday to plan your outfits before the workweek begins. Even if you only plan three, the amount of time and energy you’ll save in the mornings will dramatically change how your days go. Use the extra time you’ll have to make a good cup of coffee. Sit down. Breathe. We promise, you’ll never regret making this change.
3 Clean out your handbag
Are you a handbag hoarder? Don’t be ashamed! We know how much easier it is to throw things in your bag rather than keeping them ordered – especially during a busy week. We took a look through our handbags and purses, and we couldn’t believe how much stuff we had collected in them! A clear bag equals a clear mind. Start your week off feeling fresh by removing all the things in your purse on Sunday night. File the old receipts, put the loose change IN your purse, take the bobby pins and hair ties to your bathroom – you’ll feel so much better.
4 Organise your closet
Doing something as simple as getting your wardrobe in order can make you feel so much more in control of your week and your life. Every Sunday, open all of your drawers and doors and make sure that everything is neat and in the right place. Pick your clothes up off the floor. Take your shoes out from under the bed. Make sure all your socks and stockings have partners. A clean closet is a functional closet.
5 Pack for the week
You remember how your mother always used to tell you to pack your school bag the night before? Well, she was right. Weekday mornings are such hectic times – having one less thing to think about or remember to do in the morning can make a major difference to your day and your mood. Get everything you’ll need for work that week together on Sunday. Put it all in a bag and leave it somewhere you’ll see it come Monday. This is also a great way to help stick to your gym plan – if you pack all your workout outfits for the week in one bag and keep it at your work desk or in your car, you won’t ever have the “I forgot my gym gear” excuse.
