Are you struggling to choose your bridal accessories? You’re not alone! A lot of brides feel like they have no clue what they’re doing when it comes to their add-ons. Our DOs and DON’Ts of bridal accessories will help you find the perfect finishing touches.
The DOs and DON’Ts of bridal accessories
1 DO choose your dress first
The last thing you need is to end up sitting with expensive jewellery that doesn’t match your dream dress.
2 DO stick to your personal style
If you’re not a glitzy girl IRL, you’re under no obligation to become one on your wedding day – you’ll just end up feeling super uncomfortable.
3 DO match your metals
Choosing between gold or silver jewellery can be hard, so keep this in mind: Gold goes well with champagne and ivory gowns. Silver looks great with white and off-white.
4 DON’T forget your décolletage
The neckline of your dress majorly affects what jewellery you should wear. Whether it’s a choker or a delicate chain, a v-neck dress is begging for a necklace. If you’re going strapless, skip the necklace and opt for statement chandelier earrings. And an updo with a pretty headpiece is great for a halter neck.
5 DON’T overdo it
Less is more when it comes to accessories. As much as we love sparkly shoes and glittering necklaces, too much might leave you looking more like a disco ball than a radiant bride.
6 DON’T even touch plastic stones
Not everyone can afford Swarovski crystals, but there are affordable alternatives that aren’t rhinestones – like glass or faux pearls. Plastic doesn’t reflect light well, so it photographs badly.
