7 Last-minute details brides forget

After months of planning your dream wedding the day finally arrives and… oh no you forgot your compact for those post-ceremony touch-ups! It’s easy to miss those last minute details when the excitement (and nerves!) of walking down the aisle take over. We asked wedding planners, Nina Phillips and Catherine Zachariou to reveal the tiny details that many brides tend to forget on their big-day.

Tune in

We love music! So much so that on our Facebook page we dedicate Fridays to our favourite first dance tunes. Your wedding should reflect you and your spouse-to-be, and the music you listen to can make your day that touch more special. Don’t just leave it up to your DJ to make your song selection; spend that extra half an hour compiling a playlist with songs that mean something to you as a couple, plus some other hits that’ll have all your guests hitting the dance floor.

Prevent a makeup meltdown

It’s an oldie but a goodie that many brides tend to forget last minute. Through all the nerves and excitement the last thing you want to worry about is packing your face powder or fragrance. Assign a bridesmaid to carry your powder, lipstick/gloss, blotting paper and fragrance so that you’ve always got them close by throughout the day.

That sinking feeling

Garden weddings are great, until the bride gets her satin heels stuck in the grass! Prevent this from happening by buying some heel stoppers. They are available in a range of colours, here. Not the most attractive accessories in the world, but will worth every cent.

While we’re on the subject of shoes…

In a perfect world we’d all be able to dance the night away in nauseatingly high heels, unfortunately not even being a bride can save you from sore feet. Pack a pair of flat shoes that complement your dress and pop them on when your feet start hurting. Unless your getting married on the beach, bare feet are a no-no.

Have a Plan-B

Mother Nature’s sense of humour tends to rear its head at outdoor weddings. That’s why we ALWAYS and we repeat always insist on having a back-up plan in the event of a torrential downpour.

What’s underneath counts too!

Having sensible, nude-coloured underwear is an absolute must on your wedding day. It really pays to spend a little more on a pair of nude coloured panties (or control supports) and bra. Go for a fitting before your big day, and save your sexier pieces for your wedding night.

DON’T play the hunger game

Guests can be a fussy bunch, especially when they’re hungry. Ensure there’s enough food circulating before the reception and offer guests a midnight snack when the clock strikes 12.
