G star Raw is a denim brand that is synonymous with innovation, futuristic with cutting edge design and ensures their brand identity is unique as well as creative. Thinking out of the box is their “norm”. For their latest collab collection the brand teamed up with women owned Berlin based fashion brand-Ottolinger, to redesign and reinterpret the Elwood Jeans. Founders Cosima Gadient and Christa Bösch, approached the reinterpretation of the Elwood Jeans in an unexpected fashion by ensuring the design has a polished finish. If you’re familiar with their aesthetic they are well known for their garments that appear almost unfinished, “hanging by a thread” which is part of their genius and because of this have garnered a cult like reputation. Designing for women’s comfort is at the heart of the design process, while empowering and instilling confidence in the wearer.
On the completed design the designers had this to say;”The whole story is that the G-STAR Elwood has a shape, right? It is a very sculpted garment, unlike the regular flat jeans where your body molds into it. And we tried to recreate this shape for a female body, which has more curves and a different anatomy. The idea was to make something that speaks to a wider audience. Incorporating elements that enhance the female form — sensual and even sexy — and at the same time, it’s also G-STAR. So it needed to have a more finished look. You have to build a bridge for people to walk over and discover both worlds. Sorry, no raw edges this time!
Shopping with a purpose is a worthwhile cause and as the festive season is just over two months away we’re delighted to share that the Armoured Warriors collection by studio Ardmore has been unveiled. Inspired by the plight of the rhino, the magnificent new silk scarf design was conceived in tribute to this endangered species. Statistics indicate that one rhino is killed every day – making the ongoing fight against poaching a critical tool in ensuring the future of this majestic creature. As a way to support its conservation a percentage of each scarf sale will go to Care for Wild rhino sanctuary. These beautiful scarfs are considered to be works of art in themselves and a statement piece for any outfit. A styling tip: Ensure the scarf is worn with a solid hue to allow the scarf to be the main attraction and dare I say a conversation starter.
