When we saw this super-full, super-beautiful skirt come down the runway at Mercedes-Benz AFI Fashion Week, we were sold. Volume is a major trend for spring/summer, and a voluminous maxi is one of the most flattering ways to wear it.

So why is this look one of the key buys right now — and for years to come? To begin with, it will make your waist look tiny and it covers up areas that are problematic for many of us. Next: It’s versatile: wear it for day with a T-shirt and ballet flats, sandals or sneakers, and then take it out at night with heels and a sexy top. And, as the cherry on top, it’s one of the most feminine and comfortable things you can have in your wardrobe.

A couple of other things we love about this version by Nandi Mngoma and Inga Madyibi: the way it picks up on the trends for stripes and strong colours, plus the lady-like styling and lace detail on the top.
