Last night we saw the return of the iconic pink carpet with some of our beloved icons donning their wings. After a 6 year hiatus they came back with guns blazing having some of our fave top models walking the show. The event was staged at the Duggal Greenhouse at the Brooklyn Navy Yard and a slew of celebrities walked the carpet in anticipation of the comeback show.
Candice Swanepoel, Doutzen Kroes, Behati Prinsloo, Alessandra Ambrosia and Tyra Banks made their comeback to the iconic catwalk that helped catapult their already successful careers. Kate Moss the “IT” model of the nineties made her debut amid a host of nerves even after walking in numerous shows during her heyday, was excited to walk alongside her daughter Lila Moss who proudly showed off her glucose monitor with her lingerie ensemble. Bella Hadid strutted her stuff in a magnificent red feathered coat and matching underwear set while her sister Gigi had the honour of opening the show.
Victoria’s Secret commitment to inclusivity and diversity brought the support of Ashley Graham and Paloma Elsesser to the catwalk amongst a host of others. Our very own mzansi girl Tyla, performed for the first time as one of the musical artists and wore a stunning two piece set that proved she could easily have been one of the stunning models gracing the catwalk. Legendary Grammy award winning artist Cher performed some of her hits to enthusiastic applause along with Blackpink’s Lisa.
One noticeable difference, the wings were less extravagant than previous years but a great comeback nonetheless. We look forward to the next one!
