Another day, another social media storm surrounding Kanye West. The subject that caused a frenzy of Tweets about the rapper-turned-streetwear entrepreneur was the footwear he chose to wear to 2Chainz’s wedding. Of course, the shoes were Yeezy.
But, wait, slides? To a wedding? The grey ankle socks that accompanied the nylon slippers were not even the biggest bone of contention about what was happening around West’s feet. The cushioned slides were too small. By a considerable amount.

Despite the fact his wife Kim Kardashian West was wearing a neon vinyl, thigh-high slashed dress, all eyes were on the music mogul’s heels hanging off the end of his sandals. Of course, Twitter couldn’t let it slide. What started out as a discussion into how he could possibly have made such a faux pas, turned into social users commending West on another carefully-crafted plan to get the world talking about him and his new product.
“You know if @kanyewest gave you a pair of Yeezy slides that don’t exist anywhere that was a size too small you would still rock em,” read one Tweet, while the rest of us silently wondered how West seemed to have won again.
Perhaps it was the Virgil Abloh for Louis Vuitton suit that saved him, or that, on contemplation, wearing padded flats to a wedding is actually a genius idea. What mocks West, can only make him stronger.
