Meet Anelisa Mangcu, the gorgeously stylish talent behind the Tumblog Perfectly Tailored. Anelisa will be sharing her fashion and style choices everday, so stay posted as we keep up with her daily outfits for the next few days.
We had the opportunity to ask Anelisa a few questions and here is what she had to say:
How would you define your style?
Colourful, creative, eclectic and conceptual. Some have described it as rooted in the late 80’s and retro cool. I have days where I feel like being glamorous and other days when I feel like being city-chic. It really depends on my mood at the time!
Where do you draw your inspiration from?
Everything and anything I see and who I meet.
If you could go back in time to any era of your choice, solely based on fashion, which would it be?
The 80’s. I love how it revealed a new approach to style and street wear. It pushed boundaries from hairstyles, jewellery, patterns and colours. No colours were too bright, no styles were too crazy and nothing was too big or flashy. People seemed to just ooze confidence. Now, fashion is so technical!
If you had to leave behind a time capsule filled with fashion; be it advice, clothing or anything fashion related, what would you include
Mixing prints and bold colours is the way to go – so don’t hold back.
Who is your best dressed local celebrity?
The co-founder of Perfectly Tailored, Siyabonga Ngwekazi.
If you had to come back as a fashion icon in your next life, who would it be?
Solange Knowles. I love her and her love for colours and mixing prints. She is experimental and fun with her choices and wears what she likes!
In your opinion, what is the worst fashion trend ever?
A du-rag/wave-cap. Its purpose was originally for African-American men to hold their chemically processed hairstyles while they slept – I don’t understand how it became something worn in public.
Which five items of clothing do you think are must haves for every girl, and why?
1. Good pair of blue denims that flaunt the curves – yes curves are great!
2. White All-Stars Converse – they’re comfortable and work with most outfits.
3. The 3 vital black items: a leather jacket, heels and a dress – they’re just necessities.
4. A dark blue denim shirt – it can be dressed up and down.
5. Head wraps For those bad hair days.
