Legendary fashion icon Iris Apfel, who just celebrated her 100th birthday (!) on 29 August, has much to be excited about.
To ring in the momentous occasion, the businesswomen, interior decorator, fashion designer, and style icon, held a star-studded birthday party last night at New York Fashion Week.
Known for her individuality, bold fashion choices, and stand-out creative style, she has now brought to life her very own collection in collaboration with H&M.
In a statement about the collection, the high-street retailer said: H&M was drawn to work with Iris because of her eccentric style and influence within the fashion community. For a 100 years, Iris has inspired people to create, celebrate and embrace their own personal style and continues to be a pioneer in the fashion industry. Her colourful outfits and bold accessories have been a point of fascination for decades - she embodies what it means to be a true, fearless style icon.
The Iris Apfel x H&M collection will include a stunning assortment designed for everyone. It consists of both clothing and accessories, and features everything from colourful two-piece sets, floral suits, tiered ruffle dresses and super bright printed pieces as some of the most standout pieces.
The accessories pull from many themes including plants, animals and treasures from another world. They take inspiration from Iris’ layered look and love of chunky statement pieces.
In addition, all materials used in this collection are either recycled or sustainably sourced, and every single piece has been made "with circularity in mind".
The collection will launch in selected H&M stores in SA in early 2022
