At Glamour we don’t gate keep and as such sharing the things that I recently experienced and found are a must. Below are just a few of my recent finds and must haves for you to consider.
Sneakers:
Wearing comfortable shoes for my job is essential especially the days when I am preparing for a shoot or on set. Naturally I gravitate towards sneakers as they offer great support considering I am on my feet for a number of hours. I not only look for comfort but a sneaker that looks good too. My fave pairs right now are the ASICS Gel- Kayano as well as their recently launched Skyhand OG sneaker. Both offer a truly comfortable fit paired with cool street cred.
Puma Palermo is another firm favourite as well as their Easy Riders which comes in a few colour ways to style. The versatility of styling your looks with sneakers is unmatched and allows me the peace of comfort while looking good.
Active wear:
Winter is on its way out and prioritising fitness becomes essential when we realise that summer is not far away. Yes we know the saying, “summer bodies are made in winter” but with the freezing temperatures and intense rainfall we’ve experienced, indulging in hearty meals and warm desserts has made it extremely hard for us to venture out in the cold. But alas we need to whip ourselves into shape and wearing the perfect active wear set is essential. House of Play is a recently launched brand that specializes in the perfect fits to enjoy your workout in. Comfort is of paramount importance but looking good is up there too. You can choose from a variety of vibrant colours and styles to suit your mood. The best part is they’re reasonably priced so you won’t have to break the bank to look good.
Fave Brunch Spot:
Looking for the perfect brunch spot? Look no further. I recently got to enjoy the Pot Luck Clubs Sunday brunch experience. This is a10 course menu offering with bottomless Boschendal bubbly(alcoholic & non alcoholic) and if you prefer vodka, a make your own bloody mary station is offered too. This superb and incredibly scrumptious offering is a perfect way to start your relaxed Sunday. The generous 10 course offering will leave you deeply satisfied and if I have to say, a tad disappointed that your culinary journey has ended. My most enjoyed dishes were definitely the fresh shucked west coast oysters, curry lamb shank Taco with parsnip cream and mint salsa and lastly the duck. The taco was a decadent burst of flavours that left you wanting more. While you’re enjoying the mouth-watering courses you get to enjoy a live jazz band playing chilled tunes. This delectable Sunday brunch experience is available till the 29th September and I would highly recommend you make a reservation asap to avoid disappointment.
Fragrance:
Fragrance as I have mentioned previously is intensely personal and intimate. What you choose to wear on your skin will leave either a lasting impression that is positive or negative and it’s safe to say we all want the former. My 2 current faves I’ve personally categorised as a day time and night time scent. This is solely based on preference but can be worn where and when you desire.
Maison Margiela Replica On a Date(available at ARC stores) is a fruity-floral fragrance with top notes of Blackcurrant Syrup, Pink Pepper and Bergamot; middle notes are Rose, Geranium and Davana; base notes are Patchouli, Moss, Musk and Vetiver. A firm favourite I enjoy wearing during the day and the best part-this is a unisex scent. Remember, you might find yourself and your partner sharing this fragrance but because we each have a unique body scent it will release a slightly different aroma than your partners which makes it safe for you both to indulge in.
Burberry recently unveiled their latest fragrance in the Goddess range - Goddess Eau De Parfum Intense(available at Woolworths). The former was launched during the height of the vanilla trend and the newest offering is an extention of this trend by creating a more intense version for the consumer to enjoy. According to Fragrantica.com, “perfumer Amandine Clerc-Marie wanted to raise the experience to a higher level and present a rich combination of three vanillas.”
This gourmand amber and vanilla woodsy scent is the perfect “accessory” for a night out.
Foundation:
Giorgio Armani Luminous foundation is a must-have for any make up loving enthusiast. Its luxurious lightweight application makes your skin look and feel flawless and justifies the higher price tag.Your skin deserves the best so why not invest in products that promises only the best results. You deserve it!
Dinner Spot
The Red Room by Chefs Warehouse at the legendary Mount Nelson Hotel is the newest DIM SUM LOUNGE on the block. This is a must visit for a perfect date night with its extremely sexy atmosphere. The rich red and warm gold hues sets the tone for an intimate dining experience. Coincidentally this “room” was my wedding reception venue 22 years ago and encountering this new space brought with it intense feelings of nostalgia and a wonderful appreciation of its transformation. Well done to Liam Tomlin and David Schneider. The menu boasts a variety of mouth watering dishes to indulge in. Depending on your appetite you have the option of enjoying the Chef’s Choice Set Menu or an A la Carte menu. My advice would be to try the set menu to sample a variety of the exciting dishes on offer. Every good meal should always be accompanied with an excellent drinks menu and they certainly do not disappoint. They have a selection of classic and Asian inspired cocktails together with signature as well as off the radar wines and potstill brandies from the Cape. This was a sensational experience and a must to be repeated.
