This week, I kept an eye out on Trevor Stuurman's Instagram page for any bts photos that might show up on his social media while he was in Paris for Lukhanyo Mdingi’s show during Paris Fashion Week, and boy was I pleasantly surprised.
The show took place in a light-filled garage with a relaxed social gathering, and at the centre of attention were young people wearing clothes with vibrant colours and intricate designs.
The collection is named Burkina in honour of the CABES Textile Community he worked with during the pandemic, "BURKINA '' revolves around the theme of expanding human creativity and ingenuity.
The Eastern Cape native, Lukhanyo is constantly praised for his ability to create distinctive garments that showcase the full potential of texture and colour.
A highlight of the collection is the knitwear that is highlighted by soft crochet tops with multicoloured appliqués, fringed attachments and tonal quarter-zip pieces.
