Last night, Essence hosted its annual gathering to honour the incredible contributions of Black women in Hollywood. The event was a masterclass in Black excellence, with outstanding achievements in music, film, and more being recognized and celebrated.
The red carpet was abuzz with fashion moments, as celebrities brought their A-game in stunning ensembles. Our very own "Pretty Girl from Joburg," Tyla, turned heads in a breathtaking yellow sequined 16 Arlongton mini dress. Tyra Banks, the current cover star of Essence, exuded elegance in a sleek black gown.
The evening's honourees were a testament to the talent and dedication of Black women in Hollywood. Cynthia Erivo, a highly acclaimed actress and singer, was recognized for her impressive array of awards, including an Emmy, GRAMMY, Tony, and three Oscar nominations. Teyana Taylor, a multifaceted artist and creative leader, was also honoured for her outstanding work in film, music, and beyond. Industry veteran Marla Gibbs and Raamla Mohamed, the Emmy-nominated creator of Reasonable Doubt, were also celebrated for their remarkable contributions.
Hosted by the talented Aldis Hodge, the event served as a precursor to one of the most anticipated weekends in entertainment.
