Jolie Madame, the latest handbag offering from Olivier Rousteing for the House of Balmain has been released. Jolie Madame refers to the house’s legendary mid-century silhouette reflecting both the audaciousness of Monsieur Balmain’s fresh and feminine postwar collections and the drive for incorporating surprising innovations. With this latest bag offering, they have channeled the same inventive spirit of their most recent runways as well as their latest sneaker designs when they crafted this futuristic design, as they continued to meld together surprising shapes and materials (including rubber) with the finest in Parisian couture craftsmanship and traditions.
While working on the flower design(the rose) for his latest collection SS24 which became somewhat of an ode to the legendary founder who had an abundance of roses in his garden, Olivier pays tribute to the various artisans that brought these designs to life. Collaboration is the key to the success of his collection not only in the design studio but for the advertising campaign too. He teamed up with iconic duo, supermodel Giselle Bundchen who he has admired since he was a teen and Brazilian photographer Rafael Pavarotti.
Olivier had this to share on the collaboration;“Let me close this note by saying muito obrigado to the powerful Brazilian duo of Gisele and Rafael. You two formed the ideal team, giving our latest campaign exactly the type of colorful ebullience that we needed. Together, you’ve perfectly captured the effervescent essence of our Balmain Spring rose garden.”
