Not too long ago, Kim Kardashian West summoned someone from her glam team to braid her platinum blonde locks into cornrows. In true Kim K fashion, she showed off her braids on social media and credited her new hairstyle to 80’s film star Bo Derek, who famously wore a similar hairstyle in the 1979 film 10. As a result, social media clapped back, reminding Mrs West that the origin of the hairstyle extends back to the Fulani tribe from the Sahel Region and West Africa.
Bo Derek did not come up with these braids. The problem is you guys don’t like to give credit where it’s due . Give the Fulani Tribe their credit , they’ve been wearing this style before Bo Derek was even born . You not gone keep taking whatever you want from us and think it’s ok pic.twitter.com/TuU4xfkM8P

Now that that’s been cleared up, let’s take a look at seven South African beauties that have been rocking Fulani braids long before KKW made it ‘a thing’!
