Choosing the perfect lipstick for your skin tone can be tricky, particularly for darker skin. There’s nothing like buying a colour that you loved on the shelf or on someone else, only to get home and find it looks completely different on you.
We enlisted the help of Kindra Mann, who does makeup for ethnic beauties like Vanessa Hudgens and Rosario Dawson, for some expert advice.

“Most nude, pink, orange and red shades are going to look good on you,” says Kindra. It’s also important to take into account what colour clothing you will be wearing to avoid clashing.
Red, medium to deep pink, bronze, magenta and medium to deep brown work for you. Steer clear of shades of grey, “These often make the skin look sickly or unhealthy and are universally unflattering,” explains Kindra.
