How to repair a torn nail

Nails always seem to tear just as your nails all get to the same length. Before we learnt this trick, there was no choice but to clip and file the damaged nail – annoying us no end. Thankfully, you can keep your length and beat a torn nail with the help of a humble tea bag.

1. Cut a piece of tea bag just bigger than the tear.

2. Apply a tiny amount of glue to the piece of tea bag. We use the nail glue that comes with false nails, but you can use any strong glue.

3. Press it down over the tear using a wooden hoof stick. Make sure the tea bag is as smooth as possible. Allow to dry completely.

4. Once dry, file the top of the tea bag, so that it is as smooth as possible.

5. Keep it in place with a layer of base coat, two coats of colour and a top coat.
