As we get closer to announcing our Beauty Awards runner-ups and winners, we decided to sit down with some of our judges to learn more about their experience as judges and whether it’s changed their perception of the beauty industry.
MEET GLAMOUR’S FEATURE’S EDITOR THOBEKA PHANYEKO
GLAMOUR: What did you enjoy most about being a judge for the Beauty Awards?
THOBEKA PHANYEKO: I’ve absolutely loved trying out different products and finding out what works for my skin. I’ve fully leaned into this experience which I’ve really enjoyed.
GLAMOUR: How has this experience and exposure to the beauty industry changed your perception of skincare and makeup?
THOBEKA PHANYEKO: It’s changed my perception in different ways, I’m aware of what’s out there in terms of beauty brands. I can see that the beauty industry is such an inclusive space and I’m more present to that. Being aware of what my skin likes and what it responds to and knowing how to better take care of my skin. I’m excited to see what lies ahead.
GLAMOUR: Are there any new steps/products that you’ll be incorporating into your skincare routine going into the future?
THOBEKA PHANYEKO: Oh yes girl!I went from having a three-step routine to having a five-step routine. I’m adding products that are actually benefiting my skin. I’m using more masks and now I know how to properly use a serum.
GLAMOUR: What are you looking forward to doing this holiday?
THOBEKA PHANYEKO: I’m looking forward to getting still and spending quality time with my daughter. It’s been a long year and during the year we go hard and December is the time to relax and unwind.
GLAMOUR: One item on your Christmas wishlist.
THOBEKA PHANYEKO: An airfryer. I’m looking forward to spending more time in the kitchen, trying out awesome recipes with my daughter. She loves cooking, so it’s something that we can do together and it’s super convenient.
