We’re reaching the end of our Glamour Beauty Awards reviewing phase, and before we announce our runner-ups and winners - we decided to catch up with a few of our judges to hear more about their experience on being part of the judging panel.
MEET GLAMOUR’S Senior Beauty Editor: Jesé-Ché Lillienfeldt
GLAMOUR: What did you enjoy most about being a judge for the Beauty Awards?
Jesé-Ché Lillienfeldt: I loved how I was able to step outside of my comfort zone by introducing new products into my regimen. I stick to the same products and routine that work for my skin and rarely venture out. However, it was great to see how I was able to stretch myself and try new products, new ingredients and get exposure to new brands.
GLAMOUR: How has this experience and exposure to the beauty industry changed your perception of skincare and makeup?
Jesé-Ché Lillienfeldt: When I started in the industry, I had a very minimalist skincare routine. I did not know much about the ingredients that were in different skincare products. I went with the ones that sounded right. I rarely ventured out to try new ingredients or products as I didn’t want to overwhelm or aggravate my skin at the time. But after about 7 years of being in the industry, I’ve learned a lot about the importance of certain skincare ingredients and the different benefits it has for the skin. It’s changed my perception, as now I am more aware of what my skin needs during different seasons or times of the year. Now that I have grown and developed insight and knowledge about the beauty industry, I am now able to share this with others.
GLAMOUR: Are there any new steps/products that you’ll be incorporating into your skincare routine going into the future?
Jesé-Ché Lillienfeldt: There aren’t necessarily any new steps that I’ll be introducing into my skincare routine. But one thing that I can say, is that going forward I’m definitely planning on adding different textures - gels , creams, milks, etc. - into my skincare regime.
GLAMOUR: What are you looking forward to doing this holiday?
Jesé-Ché Lillienfeldt: Looking forward to some much needed chill time with family and friends.
