Shamiel aspires to be a successful strong woman (yes, you DID read that right!). Due to Shamiel being raised by a single mom, he saw and recognised the sacrifices she made to take care and provide for him. “I appreciate her for that, she has always been a role model who did the best she could, so when I see other woman making a success of themselves it just remind’s me of the love my mom showed me growing up.”
Shamiel equipped himself with the lessons he learned from his mother and utilised them to successfully establish himself in the notoriously difficult South African modelling industry. He has an extremely creative side that he’s planning on concentrating on during the course of this year. He’s super excited about the clothing label he’s currently working on, being able to express his creative genius through clothes has always been a strength of his.
One of the most important lessons he’s learned from being in the cut-throat modelling world is that you need to have patience. “You have to work hard for what you want, when you want it, and at the same time know that everything comes in due time,” he says. “Believe in yourself! A lot holds us back from the things we want to achieve, so don’t allow your background or the flaws you may think you have, to affect the future you see for yourself. Work hard, because nothing comes easy, and be patient. My key to success is optimism – I choose to see light in every thing”.
