Johannesburg, 17 September 2018: The Weylandts store at Brooklyn Mall in Pretoria, came alive with a rich dose of magic, when GLAMOUR’s Most GLAMOURous Reader Event took place on Sunday, 16 September 2018.
Readers were treated to an afternoon of deluxe pampering by GLAMOUR’s partner brands, ELIE SAAB Parfums, ELEMIS, OPI and Mirari Gin. ELIE SAAB Parfums gave readers the opportunity to try their latest fragrance, Girl of Now Shine, boasting a blend of Ormond flower, ylang-ylang and jasmine. For a professional skin consultation, readers could chat with the therapists from ELEMIS, who advised them on the most suitable products for their skin type. OPI’s masseuses spoilt them with relaxing massages, while Mirari Gin hosted a bar where they could bask in the flavours of invigorating cocktails.
Three of the top 10 winners, who were honoured for their charming sense of style at GLAMOUR’s Most GLAMOURous Awards, took to the stage to deliver riveting speeches. The themes of their talks were based on the content pillars of the recently revamped GLAMOUR magazine, namely Look, Feel, Live and Think. Bridgett Pickering, fashion designer for local clothing label Ruff Tung, covered the subject of Look, before makeup artist at Gorgeous2go, Renée De Wit, spoke on the topic of Feel, by revealing some of her handy beauty tips. Hip-hop artist Nadia Nakai then put on an electrifying performance that created a lively ambience. Next up was GLAMOUR Editor-in-Chief Asanda Sizani, who discussed the category of Think, by touching on matters highlighted in this section of upcoming GLAMOUR issues, from freedom of expression in a digital age, to gender neutrality. GLAMOUR Fashion Director David Lerouw Lascurain, talked about the area of Live, by shedding light on the concept of “living your best life”, as portrayed through social media. He
encouraged GLAMOUR readers to spread authentic messages on their lives when using the hashtag #livingmybestlife.
The cover of GLAMOUR’s October issue, named The Freedom Issue, was also unveiled at the event. Its cover star, actress Amanda Du-Pont, shared a few words with readers about the benefit of staying true to herself as she progressed through her career journey. She reminded readers that by being brave enough to express their individuality, their goals can be achieved. As a sweet ending to the occasion, readers were gifted with goodie bags filled with
beauty products that they could use to treat themselves. These included fragrance samples from ELIE SAAB Parfums, OPI nail files to keep their nails in tip-top shape and samples of ELEMIS’ new Peptide 24/7 range, to nourish their skin.
That was not all. The goodie bags also contained essential grooming products from Dove, consisting of a roll-on deodorant, antiperspirant spray and hand cream. A Vaseline lip balm was added to the bag, as were luxury stationery items from retailer CNA, such as fluffy pens and decorative key rings.
