A great way to get your Airbnb listing noticed by potential guests is to give guests something to take a photo of, something that you know they would most likely share on Instagram so they can brag about their travels and where they are staying.
And if your guests do that and mention the name of your listing, it’s a great way to advertise your property.
Here are five design tips taken from Airbnbs around the world to help you ensure that your home makes it to the ‘gram.
Add a local touch
In order to make it clear that they are in some exotic location, travellers almost always ensure that they share photos that highlight the destination. So, add these touches to your Airbnb. Add local art pieces, a unique design of the country’s flag, mugs with the country name on it, something that is unique to your location - anything that helps guests showcase where they are journeying on their travels.
Go green
Indoor plants are very much a top design trend at the moment. Bring nature indoors with a few plants around the house in locations where they add a unique touch to the space. We’re sure you’ve seen many an Instagram post showing off a room filled with plants.
Highlight the views
This may seem like an obvious one, but you would be surprised at how many people fail to do this. If you are lucky enough to have a home with a great view, then definitely frame these views and make them stand out for guests. Even if the view is from a random room in the house - the kitchen or the bathroom - use these views as the focal point of the room and design everything around it. Add curtains that frame the view, add little elements in the foreground that will create some depth of field in the images. Make the view and that room an area that travellers cannot resist taking photos of.
Add a pop of colour
This tip is great for those who may not have the time or the funds to do a huge room makeover. Adding just a dash of colour to a space can make a huge difference and, if done right, can become a photo-worthy part of the house. This could be done by painting or adding wallpaper to one wall in a room, painting the back of a bookshelf, adding colour to a door frame, and more.
Set up a unique spot for relaxation
The one thing people want to show themselves doing on holiday is relaxing. Make sure that you have a unique spot in your Airbnb home just for this. It could be a spot where guests can settle in to read a book, a breakfast nook, a place to drink coffee or a space to enjoy some wine. Decorate this space with creative items and colours that create a sense of calm, peace and tranquility.
