Since childhood, music has been my trusted sanctuary. Whether I'm ecstatic, melancholic, or seeking solace, melodies and lyrics have cradled my emotions. Countless songs have mirrored my experiences, forging an unbreakable bond with the visionary artists behind them. Their tireless efforts to craft resonant masterpieces deserve unwavering appreciation.

In celebration of South Africa's vibrant music scene, I proudly present my Top 5 Albums of 2024:

On Air by Filah lah Lah

Prior to the highly-anticipated release of ON AIR, I had the privilege of chatting with Filah. We dove into the album's inspiration, her diverse musical roots, and the emotional depth of her lyricism, blending Hip-Hop and R&B. The album is a sonic masterpiece that delves into the depths of personal growth, romance, and self-discovery. Filah vulnerably share her personal thoughts and emotions. Tracks like "Past Myself" and "Call Me“ showcase their storytelling prowess, weaving tales of love, heartbreak, and introspection.

Isibane Selali by Flash Ikumkani

Released on January 26, 2024, "Isibane Selali" is an outstanding Hip-Hop album that showcases Flash Ikumnkani's artistic growth. Following his breakout single "Mhluzi," this 12-track collection demonstrates his storytelling prowess, lyrical dexterity, and strategic collaborations with prominent South African artists. The album carry relatable themes and elevates Xhosa rap- his deliverance, rhymes and word play is unbelievable. Choosing a favourite song from the album is close to impossible but Amaqaba, Gazi Lam and Ilwimi lwenkobe have to be top of my list

Nomthandazo by Zoe Modiga

From Inganekwane to Nomthandazo, Zoe Modiga is by far one of the best artist in South Africa, her stage presence is a magnifying sight, her angelic voice is beyond compare. Nomthandazo loosely translated to prayer is Modiga’s third studio album, a spiritual offering that encapsulate her sacred beliefs by leading her listeners to finding heaven within themselves. The album is emotionally charged, full of soul stirring tunes that not only move you but empower you into self-realisation and expression.

Time Machine by Digital Sangoma
