Looking to put a stop to your period pain? Sick of bloating, sore breasts and general feelings of bleurgh?
Let's be honest, periods aren't exactly peachy. But things can be better (yes, even if you're currently lying in the fetal position wondering if you're actually about to give birth to a carnivorous alien) – promise.
Here's every trick we've ever learnt to make your next period as bearable and breezy as possible...
Take evening primrose oil
It's the herbal solution that many women swear by. It helps to alleviate cramping, headaches, and sore breasts by interfering with the production of prostaglandins – the cause behind these symptoms.
GLAMOUR's Laura, who takes it daily all year round, says: "It significantly helps to reduce breast swelling and tenderness around my cycle. And I mean a noticeable difference, up to 90 per cent."
Sleep in the fetal position
Jokes aside, this is actually the best position to lay in, not only for cramp relief but also to prevent leaks while sleeping. It takes the pressure off your abdominal muscles and is just damn comfy
Wear a dressing gown
If we could wear a fluffy robe everywhere for the 2-7 days we would. But if you can't quite get away with it, pick wardrobe choices that are loose and comfy. Preferably elastic waistbands to accommodate any bloating. Try layering a cosy knit over a maxi dress for optimal comfort.
Eat whatever your body asks for
Legit guys, resident GLAMOUR nutritionist, Grace, is giving you permission. Now is not the time to put yourself on a restrictive diet of kale and avocado. If your body needs bread, give it to it.
Lay off the booze
Grace isn't all fun though, because she also says to avoid alcohol, in order to 'take pressure off the liver so it can focus on the job of clearing up any hormonal acne'. Clever, even if it means no Prosecco pain relief.
Hot water bottle is bae
Hot water bottle on your tummy, hot water bottle on your back, hot water bottle in bed. Carry this steamy sack with you everywhere for constant comforting pain relief. The warmth will help to relax your muscles, release tension and is basically the grown-up version of a teddy bear. And if you just want to wrap yourself up in a hot water bottle, you can with a Yuyu Bottle (it's nearly a metre long!).
