Fans, especially those who read Jenny Han’s original novel that the movie is based on, are basically ecstatic, and for good reason: not only does the story feature a half-Korean family and largely Asian-American cast (including Lana Condor as Lara Jean and Janel Parrish as her sister Margot), but it’s also ridiculously fun to watch.
As these devoted fans make their way through the film, many are noticing a very cute cameo from none other than the author herself, Jenny Han. The moment in the movie comes after Lara Jean’s private love letters to her former crushes are sent out, when chaos ensues. The story flashes back to Lara Jean’s moment with one recipient, Lucas Krapf, at her freshman year homecoming dance.
When the two take over the dance floor, Jenny can be seen in the background playing a chaperone, grinning proudly upon the characters she created. You can tell this movie and its stories were labors of love.

FYI: This is seriously the best teen romcom since 10 Things I Hate About You. Trust.
