If there is anything that comes with being a plant parent, is that sometimes your green girls can get brown tips on their leaves. It often has left me quite stressed out especially when I was just starting out.
So here are the 4 most common things that can cause brown tips on your plants:
1. Not enough humidity
Some plants require moisture, and when the air dries out they take a bit of strain. First things first, 📢you don’t need a humidifier📢.
🌿You can group your houseplants together to help keep the humidity levels around them up. You can make yourself humidity jar, which will create moisture for up to 3 plants or place your green girl in the bathroom. 🌿
2. Not enough nutrients
Houseplants don’t have the benefits of being outdoors and getting those nutrients that they would ordinarily get in their natural environment. Try adding some organic fertilizer to your care routine in the summer months. Use fertilizer once every two week. (Please don’t over fertilize, it can kill your green girls.)
3. Inconsistent watering
Your green girls like to be on a routine. Make sure that you are thoroughly watering them and allowing them to drain well. They will become unhappy if give them a good drink of water the one week and give them ice cubes 👀 the next.
4. Chemicals in tap water.
Some of my plants do not like tap water, like my calatheas. The moment I changed over to rain water and filtered water, they started growing better and all the new leaves do not have brown tips. There are too many chemicals in the tap water, so try changing to rain, distilled or filtered water.
🌿Once the tips go brown you can’t change that, but you can cut those brown tips off (try keep the shape similar to the shape of your plant), give your green girls a good plant care routine and watch the new leaves start growing out🌿
