GLAMOUR exclusive: Rush Tush opens up about her Real Housewives of Cape Town experience

You may know Rush Tush as a fitness mogul, fashion lover, wife and mom-of-three - but now she’s got a new title. The renowned personal trainer and online coach has officially become a Real Housewife.

On Sunday, Rushda Moosajee made her foray into the world of reality television when she appeared on the debut episode of the all-new Real Housewives of Cape Town.

Alongside cast members Camilla McDowell, Loveline Abinokhauno, Thato Montse, Beverly Steyn, and Kutazwa ‘Rooksy’ Gqirana, Rushda will give us a glimpse into her personal life, all the while serving us lots of drama and entertainment in the process - and while Rush is known for being fierce and opinionated online, fans are predicting she may be the main pot-stirrer on the show. But is this a fair assumption?

We caught up with the business woman herself to clear up the rumours, and find out more about her time on the Real Housewives of Cape Town.

What was it like adjusting to living your life in front of the camera?

Emotionally I am very comfortable in front and behind of any kind of media. It’s as if my whole life led me to something like this. Physically, it was gruelling and very demanding. But there is nothing I can’t do once I set goals for myself. Once I commit to a journey, you won’t find anyone more dedicated.

Was it easy opening up and allowing yourself to be vulnerable?

Yes and no. My family and personal life is very private. I protect them at all costs. There was a lot of non-negotiables on the table for me regarding content and production limits. I’m the kind of person that won’t sacrifice my integrity, I’m always going to be work within my moral code.

What was the dynamic like between all the women while filming?

We are ALL SO VASTLY DIFFERENT. Imagine all the flavours, different boiling points and diverse points of view.

Is there anyone on the cast whom you particularly connected with?

All the women, in different ways at different times. More so after filming, without the pressures.

Is there anyone you did not get along with?

Not really no. Just because you don’t understand why someone does something or behaves a certain way doesn’t mean you have to not get along. All you need is patience, compassion and time.

You are already a public figure with a wide social media following. Is there anything fans will be surprised to learn about you on the show that they wouldn’t have known otherwise?

Many people are under the impression that confidence and being fierce means you’re going to be fighting and throwing hands. I am not afraid of confrontation but I don’t play in mud with pigs. I enter tense situations with respect and often I get respected in turn.

To what extent do we get a glimpse into your personal life with your husband and kids?

This is my most protected part of my life. However I do share something very intimate and exciting with the viewers, which I wouldn’t have shared anywhere else.

What was the most difficult part about filming the Real Housewives? And what was the most enjoyable?

The most difficult was scheduling, last minute changes, waiting for hours and waiting for hours. The hours were very long. The most enjoyable was probably discovering new limits of what I could achieve in a day. I was working throughout and had my own deadlines and work too. As well as my family responsibilities.

Is there anything you learned from the experience?

Too soon to tell… I’m looking forward to seeing the further development of my business and work due to being exposed to a wider audience reach.

Do you think it’s something you’d want to do again?

I would yes! It’s an organic relationship that will grow, as women we are always evolving, can the world keep up? That’s why we are glued to our seats. Next year I might be a nee improved me! We are all after growth!
