The hot toddy recipe that’ll keep you warm this winter

Staying warm this winter is everyone’s number one priority. If you feel like you’ve indulged in one too many cups of hot chocolate and feel like something a bit more grown-up, we’ve got just the thing for you.

Actress Anji Woodley has shared a recipe for her favourite winter drink, a warm and toasty hot toddy that’ll keep the flu at bay. Enjoy!

WINTER ALCOHOLIC HOT TODDY

Makes one serving.

Ingredients

1 slice of fresh lemon

1 stick of cinnamon

1 slice of fresh ginger

1 star anise

1 tbsp raw honey or stevia for sweetening

½ tsp cayenne pepper

2 tbsp rum or brandy

Method

- Pour a cup of boiling water and brandy/rum into a mug.

- Add the spices (cinnamon, fresh ginger, star anise and cayenne pepper).

- Add a slice of lemon and leave the mixture to stand for 5 minutes to allow the flavours to infuse.

- Sweeten with raw honey or stevia and serve with a biscotti or homemade granola.
