GLAM review: City escape

If you’re looking for an escape but love the city, Tsogo Sun’s Southern Sun Waterfront is the ideal place to get the best of both worlds.

The hotel is nestled among restaurants and shops in Cape Town’s bustling foreshore and although the Waterfront is but a short walk away, Tsogo Sun’s Southern Sun Waterfront offers guests a shuttle service departing for the Waterfront every half an hour. For those tired of walking the city streets, a secluded pool area awaits them back at the hotel. The Utopia Face & Body spa on the first floor offers guests on the go time to replenish with massages from R320, but those eager to get some exercise, can enjoy free access to the fitness centre.

Should you not be captured by one of the restaurants in the area, Yizani’s Restaurant is a cosy alcove right in the hotel. They have an impressive brandy themed cocktail menu and meal options that’ll satisfy serious ‘foodies’. Be sure not to oversleep breakfast, as the Southern Sun Waterfront’s breakfast buffet is not to be missed! Croissants are baked right before your eyes as each cloche is lifted to reveal one more thing you can’t fit onto your already-crowded plate.

The views are breathtaking, there is a tea and candy bar in the foyer and best of all – you feel at home. The staff of Tsogo Sun’s Southern Sun Waterfront are genuinely friendly and accommodating, making you feel like you’ve lived there for years, and if you could, you’d probably want to!
