Stressed and swamped at work? Step away from your desk! You can ace your job and have a life. Here’s how:
If you wake up early, get out of bed
Don’t just lie in bed daydreaming – rather get up and do something useful. There’s nothing quite like the peace of an early morning to clear your emails, plan your work day or read up on that important office document you’ve been meaning to get to.
Plan your wardrobe the night before
We often think it takes no time to get dressed on the morning – so we don’t allow time for discovering that our go-to dress needs to be ironed or is in the wash. Prepping outfits in advance cuts out that last minute style stress.
Exercise at lunchtime
Did you know that when you exercise your brain releases endorphins – the ‘feel good’ chemical. Studies show that they help to improve your mood and they play an important part in reducing stress.
Take time out
Yes, you’re super busy but you’ll actually be far more productive if you take breaks during the day. Step away from your desk and your computer to take a short walk (even if it’s to the kitchen). Ironically, that’s often when the best new ideas and solutions will pop into your brain.
Keep your emails short
Emails should be short, succinct and clarify what’s needed. Always be clear in the subject line about what you want from the recipient.
Enjoy your weekends!
Make a plan to spend proper, quality time with your loved ones and friends on the weekend so that you can relax and recharge for Monday.
