Black Coffee gets candid on Podcast and Chill

The much anticipated episode of Podcast and Chill with MacG finally dropped and South Africans are lapping it up. Grammy award-winning music producer and DJ, Black Coffee opened up about his music career, industry friendships, personal development and his highly publicised divorce.

When the award-winning DJ announced that he’d finally be heading to Podcast and Chill, the streets were shaking. Black Coffee has had his fair share of drama following his divorce from actress, Enhle Mbali Mlotshwa.

South Africans were waiting for the DJ to spill the tea as he remained mum throughout Enhle’s revelations regarding their marriage. The actress further revealed that she suffered abuse at the hands of Black Coffee. She later filed a restraining order against him after accusing him of slapping her on the wrist and pushing her during an argument at their former marital home during an intimate birthday celebration. He denied the abuse claims, and a court denied her application.

Black Coffee sparked concerns when he revealed through a Twitter post that he wasn’t ok, late last year. And when his ex-wife was exposed for having an affair with a married man, fans waited patiently for him to add his voice to the conversation. The DJ announced that he was ready to sit down with MacG for an exclusive interview, instead.

MacG announced that the episode would premiere at Ster Kinekor theatres nationwide on February 23, and tickets at the Mall of Africa were sold out within 2 hours. South Africans went to the theatre in numbers, and ‘chillers’ who couldn’t make it were gooped when the episode finally dropped on YouTube on Thursday.

The DJ surprised viewers with his transparency and willingness to take accountability for his role in the breakdown of his marriage with Enhle Mbali. He also urged MacG to use his platform to celebrate black excellence instead of always trashing those who are trying to create a better life for themselves. Judging by the comments, this resonated with a lot of South Africans.
