Last year’s GLAMOUR Women of the Year Awards were cause for celebration! The biggest names in showbiz donned designer looks and braved the cold to dazzle photographers and celebrate with us at one of South Africa’s most GLAMOURous events. In preparation for the awards this year (taking place Saturday 21 July), we take a look back at what went down last year:
19:00 The winners meet at Vanilla in the Mall of Rosebank for interviews.
19:15“My brother told to me answer, ‘I’m jet-lagged’ to every difficult question,” giggles Zolani Mahola.
19:20 Suzanne Heyns admits that she grabbed her black dress straight from the studio. “It hasn’t been worn before, so it’s a look that I’m test-driving.”
19:30 Revlon makeup pros welcome guests at the Grace Hotel armed with brushes and glosses for touch-ups.
20:00 The cocktail bar is in full swing and the (cute) barmen can’t make their candy floss martinis fast enough.
20:20 Argentinian band Son of a Thousand Sons sing about the beauty of SA women. Cue a hundred swoons.
20:30 Kopano Mabaso accepts her award saying, “It’s an exciting time to be an SA woman, now we are free to choose our path.”
20:32 Jan Turner sent these words: “The best stories are those never told before.”
20:40“Every time we step on stage, it’s a gift that we receive,” says Freshlyground’s Kyla Rose.
20:45 Santa ShoeBox co-ordinator, Irené Pieters’ moving speech has more than one person reaching for a tissue.
21:00 The mini stews, Thai noodles, prawns and cheese boards have more than one celeb breaking their diet!
21:30 The first celeb to hit the dance floor: Elana Afrika trying to drag Louise Carver with her (Louise politely declines). But the YFM Twinz take up her offer.
