Get excited for this year’s fall/winter trends and add some bling to your knitwear! Metallic spray-painted knits were spotted everywhere from Copenhagen to Berlin to New York, from boutiques to high street stores. H&M and Zara filled their stores with the most amazing metallic knitwear.
I first discovered it last year in Brussels with my BF – fashion buyer Francesca, who had two jerseys from H&M, then saw another in Copenhagen – on the girl sitting on the wooden horse.
In Cape Town I spotted it on my fashion friend, Lizel, Dirty Neon style blogger who bought her sweater for only 9 pounds (see above). I had to have the trend in my wardrobe, so I bought an oversized black spray-painted sweater from Zara and cabled silver spray painted sweater from MTWTF Weekday store in Berlin.
If you’re like me and can’t wait for retailers to catch onto this trend, then grab some spray paint and do it yourself… Place cardboard inside the jersey to prevent either side from sticking together – and spray! Let it dry on the one side and then spray the other. It’s not about perfection, and even a little bling is cool.
