Introducing Mbidzo | The Calling, a visual exploration of unexplained connections and the longing from Fundudzi by Craig Jacobs.
The fashion film, directed by emerging filmic talent Amahle Mtengenya with fashion direction by Amy Zama, presents Rox Roberson and Monde Mcebo Ngcobo as two characters with an unexplained bond.
The film juxtaposes a gritty urban jungle with the serenity of a place unsoiled by the noise of our everyday lives, and boasts a soundtrack by Naked DJ featuring Kiss Beats.
The searing backdrop complements a collection which moves from hardwired details including harness inspired flourishes in a distinctive African incarnation and vegan leather shorts to fluid silhouettes and razor-sharp tailoring.
The new trans-seasonal range is largely fixated with menswear codes, but as the characters reveal, the barriers between what we deem men and women should wear are eroded.
This, however, is in no way a gender-neutral collection.
Mbidzo | The Calling is complemented by a dramatic lookbook lensed by Simz Mkhwanazi of Best Friends with creative direction by Amy Zama.
