Former Miss Universe and South African darling Zozibini Tunzi has landed a major acting role.
The model announced on her Instagram that she has been cast for the film The Woman is KIng starring alongside Viola Davis and Thuso Mbedu.
Tunzi revealed that this is her first foray into the world of acting and she is going into it with humility and grace.
“It is a completely new world and first time experience for me,” she said. “Forever grateful and looking forward.”
The film, which is set to release in September this year, is a historical biopic that chronicles true events that happened in the Kingdom of Dahomey, a powerful African state, during the 18th and 19th centuries.
Written by Dana Stevens and directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood, The Woman is KIng was shot on location in South Africa. Other local personalities including Masali Baduza, Seputla Sebogodi, Thando Dlomo and Makgotso Monyemorathoe will also make an appearance in the film.
Grammy award-winner Lebo M has created five original songs for the movie.
We can’t wait to see our beauty queen make her acting debut!
