A day after the sudden and unexpected passing of up-and-coming actor Angus Cloud, his Euphoria costar Zendaya has added her voice to the chorus of those mourning him.
“Words are not enough to describe the infinite beauty that is Angus (Conor),” she wrote alongside a black-and-white snapshot of the 25-year-old (his full name was Conor Angus Cloud Hickey). “I’m so grateful I got the chance to know him in this life, to call him a brother, to see his warm kind eyes and bright smile, or hear his infectious cackle of a laugh (I’m smiling now just thinking of it). I know people use this expression often when talking about folks they love…‘they could light up any room they entered,’ but boy let me tell you, he was the best at it. I’d like to remember him that way. For all of the boundless light, love and joy he always managed to give us. I’ll cherish every moment.”
Cloud played Fezco in the first two seasons of the HBO drama and had recently wrapped filming on feature projects when he died. In announcing his death, his family noted that he had lost his father a week earlier.
Zendaya, who stars as Rue on the show, ended her sentiments, “My heart is with his mother and family at this time and please be kind and patient as grief looks different for everyone.”
The post attracted thousands of comments, with many sending love and support to Zendaya and others who knew Cloud and many fans reminding one another to let people grieve privately before demanding a public post. In the statement announcing his death, Cloud’s family wrote, “We hope the world remembers him for his humour, laughter and love for everyone,” all of which were proudly on display in a Glamour US interview he gave last February, talking about his love of The Office and burgers.
Thank you, Zendaya, for sharing these intimate feelings.
