After all the hype around Madonna’s Super Bowl set, it seems that someone else has stolen the spotlight! Madonna has publicly slammed MIA for her “teenage” antics during their joint Super Bowl performance, which included MIA flipping her middle finger at the camera, and swearing during her appearance with Madge.
The Music hitmaker admits she was disappointed with the British rapper, and claimed that she felt that the rapper’s antics were inappropriate for the prestigious Super Bowl XLVI Half Time Show last weekend.
Madonna told KIIS-FM DJ Ryan Seacrest, “I wasn’t happy about it. I understand it’s kind of punk rock and everything, but to me there was such a feeling of love and good energy and positivity, it seemed negative.
It’s one of those things, in a way, kind of irrelevant kind of thing to do. There was such a feeling of love and unity there, what was the point? It was just out of place.”
MIA’s spokespeople since apologised for her live misbehaviour, claiming that she was ‘caught in the moment’ and full of adrenalin – forgetting that millions were watching her strut her stuff live. And we have to say, with a sassy singer like MIA know for her controversial attitude, what else could you expect?
Sharing the spotlight with Madge would always be a tense job description – and it seems that MIA overstepped her mark. Do you think Madonna is right to be annoyed, or was MIA just being herself?
